Kathiya Zelasco
Owner / Lead Planner
Kathiya Zelasco has 15+ years of experience in the event planning industry. She has been able to build a great reputation with her creative ideas, designs and sharp attention to detail. As a seasoned lead planner Kathiya has coordinated and produced high level corporate, government and social functions. She excels at logistics and operations, and her attention to detail means that events and meetings go smoothly from concept to completion. Kathiya also assists with on-site event coordination, from set-ups and directing vendors to maintaining constant client contact, and keeping guests happy.
She followed her passion for transforming spaces and experiences. She studied Interior Design, a training which led to her excellence in understanding grand design along with an ease with logistics and operations. Her later training at the Flower School of New York with master florists gave her mastery with the nuances of multiple small exquisite details.
By the time Kathiya formed her own company, Zela Events in 2017, she was already a seasoned Corporate Event Director and Designer managing and producing high level business, government and social functions. Her expertise in seamless planning and concept to completion management is the result of directing red carpet celebrity events for clients and the business meetings and celebrations for corporate clients such as Staples, Ernst & Young and Deloitte, and even high-profile events like the Mercedes-Benz Bridgehampton Polo match. Her work has also appeared on Bravo’s hit reality television show, RHONJ.
As much as events are her passion, family is very important to Kathiya. The events industry can be a 24-hour business and she was led to create Zela for the flexibility to spend more time with her children. The company’s flexibility for employees is part of Zela’s work ethic and Zela is proudly a female Latina owned business.
